# Matchups and Synergies
## The basics --- Create [[210 Tips|tips]] that help players learn how to play against a given matchup or to maximize their synergies with their allies. This tutorial will use the **Enemies** tab as an example, but the exact same concepts apply to the **Allies** tab.
![[Pasted image 20220801165723.png]]
If you want to know more about how [[210 Tips|tips]] work, when and where they are displayed on players' screens, check the [[210 Tips|tips explanation]] page.
### Getting Started In your [[guide editor]], navigate to **Enemies** and click on **+Tip**. 1. Select the **role** of the enemy champion 2. Select the **champion** 3. Click on **Next**
>[!hint] Champion group >Instead of selecting a champion, you can also create or use an existing [[champion group]]. Your [[210 Tips|tip]] will be displayed anytime the player is facing a champion in this group.
### The first matchup tip Displaying the first matchup [[210 Tips|tip]] at the right time is crucial. You don't want to give it too early on as your guide might already talk about starting items or anything else relevant before the game really starts. But you can't give it too late or the player will start the laning phase without getting any matchup info. Zar helps you get the right moment thanks to the _Game timing_ [[Triggers|trigger]]. -> In the [[210 Tips|tip]] you just created, select the [[Triggers|trigger]] _Game timing_ → _specific_ → _laning phase starts_ ![[Pasted image 20220801170210.png]]
>[!warning] Tip collision >Always try to create [[210 Tips|tips]] that have different combination of [[triggers]] ([[scenarios]]) or they will collide in-game: some of them won't be displayed becauses other [[210 Tips|tips]] are already displayed.
### When there are many things to say... You will often want to say many different basic or advanced [[210 Tips|tips]] and tricks for the **same** champion. Maybe you want to say something when they are level 3, of if they are ahead of the player during the mid game. You can't put everything in a single [[210 Tips|tip]] as it will be too long for the player to read, and it's not efficient as you want the [[210 Tips|tip]] to be displayed when it's the most relevant. The easiest way to tackle that problem is to create one [[210 Tips|tip]] per _champion level_. Thanks to that you can display up to 18 different [[210 Tips|tips]] per matchup. 1. In the [[210 Tips|tip]] you just created, select the [[Triggers|trigger]] *enemy champion→ level is→ 1 - 1* 2. Write your [[Main advice and Explanations|main advice]] and [[Main advice and Explanations|explanation]] 3. Click on **+Alternative tip** 4. Select the [[triggers]] *enemy champion→ level is→ 2 - 2* 5. Write your [[Main advice and Explanations|main advice]] and [[Main advice and Explanations|explanation]] 6. Etc...
![[Pasted image 20220801170546.png]]
>[!summary] More info >The _level is → min_ [[Triggers|trigger]] allows you to control when the [[210 Tips|tip]] is displayed for the first time. The _level is → max_ [[Triggers|trigger]] allows you to control how long the [[210 Tips|tip]] will be displayed in the [[tab view]]. For example, starting level 6, if you simply want to give a long term [[210 Tips|tip]] about how to play the matchup during the rest of the game, you can use *enemy champion → level is → 6 - 18* as the [[Triggers|trigger]] of the [[210 Tips|tip]].
## Advanced --- In **The basics**, we just learned how to create simple matchup [[210 Tips|tips]] based on the enemy's level. But as you might notice when you create a new [[210 Tips|tip]] in the **Enemies** tab and create a trigger with the _enemy champion_ [[Triggers|trigger]], there are many opportunities to fine tune your coaching and create very advanced [[210 Tips|tips]] based on different key factors. When you select the _enemy champion_ [[Triggers|trigger]], you have access to many options. - Use _advantage_ to give [[210 Tips|tips]] based on whether the enemy laner is ahead or behind in gold and items compared to the player. >[!example] >Warn about your ability to duel the enemy top laner if you are both split-pushers, based on whether your are behind or ahead of your matchup.
- Use _has item_ to give [[210 Tips|tips]] based on the current enemy laner's inventory. >[!example] >If you play _**Zed**_, use _has item_ to warn the player about the enemy _**Syndra**_ buying _**Zhonya's Hourglass**_.
- Use _summoner spell_ to give [[210 Tips|tips]] based on the enemy laner's summoner spells. >[!warning] > _summoner spell_ checks whether the enemy has a summoner spell, **not** if it's ready-to-use or on cooldown.
--- 👉Next: [[230 Items & Abilities|Items & Abilities]] --- #### Links to this page - [[Start here]] - [[210 Tips|Tips]]
